Happy New year, Nothing lasts forever, I hope you enjoy it.

"But the stove has 4 burners so NOW you're done.. oh but then there's the oven. So you could stick your whole head in the oven and THEN you're done."
--Carrie, my hairdresser on learning things the hard way. (There you go Carrie, you're featured in my blog. Thanks for the haircut)

New years Eve. I hope you're all expecting 2010 to be your best year yet--cause honestly, who rings in the new year saying "I hope this year is subpar. Mediocre at best."?

I went to the bar again with the boys last night and ran into some old friends, who were pretty drunk by the time I got there. I got to listen to them rant about hockey, beer, and their girlfriends-- who I don't know by their real names because the boys affectionately call them "battleaxe" "nag" and "ball 'n chain".
It's interesting to observe the relationships between men. Two of my friends are not on speaking terms because of the competition between their fantasy hockey teams.

But don't jump to conclusions.

Bright Lights

Hypothetically, if I were to give you a note that said "You, me? Yes, No. Circle one"
My heart would want you to circle yes. My head would want you to circle no.
I always get a sore neck when there's arguments between my heart and my head. My right arm also hurts whenever I have a huge decision to make. Does anyone else get this?

I was with a man that told me this song was how he felt about me. The lyrics lead me to believe you knew we were doomed from the start, but you didn't mind the hurt, did you? This relationship had more downs than it had ups, but he still calls me every weekend and he was also the first person I showed my writing to. Maybe my subconscious had a part in naming this blog after this song because being able to open up and share these thoughts has a lot to do with this person. Thank you.

Big dreams + someone that is your kryptonite... those relationships won't work out.
For those of you who aren't up to date on your Superman knowledge, Kryptonite was a fictional element from the planet Krypton- where Superman was from. The one weakness of an otherwise invulnerable hero.

But wait a minute... was superman attracted to kryptonite? Did kryptonite hold him at night, kiss him on the forehead and tell him he had beautiful eyes?

In later versions of Superman comics, his enemy Lex Luthor ended up developing cancer from the kryptonite ring he wore on his finger.
Hmmmmm THINK ABOUT IT

You'z a 10.

"If you wait until you're ready, you'll never have babies"-my dad.

I'm happy with how this blogging thing is going so far. Thanks for the hits and the followers. Special shout out to Matt Zhou for being my first! He has a pretty cool blog himself and has without a doubt, the best music knowledge and taste. He also makes a mean breakfast after a night of partying and helps to clean up after your stove was accidentally turned on and burned your mixing bowls and tupperware on top of it and almost burned your 25th floor condo down... but that's another story. Check out his site: LES RUES

I have a few days left in Edmonton before I go back to my other home, Toronto. This morning I met with a friend and future business partner and we discussed a music video that we may be shooting in the next few months. I haven't written this in the blog yet, but I've been doing a few auditions when I'm not busy with school and life and such... I will be appearing in a music video for the Latency, shooting next month.
I'm currently sitting in a starbucks on Jasper Ave, blogging, feeling sophisticated and... cold because I'm sitting next to the window.

I went to a bar with my best friends last night and we were talking about our "10's"- who we consider a 10 on a scale of attractiveness. Let me first say that my best friends are boys, so the responses I got were: Jennifer Aniston, Megan Fox, and Lights.
I'd have to say that my 10 would be Jared Followill from Kings of Leon. I met him once in a London Drugs in Vancouver in '05. Unfortunately I was too young to make him fall in love with me.
Who's a 10 for you?

What are your plans for New Years? And what are your resolutions?
The problem with resolutions is that I tend to make them new year's eve. So a lot of my resolutions aren't really that well thought out. I resolve to get that boy's email address. I resolve to throw a snowball at that cop car. I resolve to swim to Europe. I resolve to climb out of this ditch. I resolve to live through the night.

If you're not going out with your friends and getting beligerantly drunk on New Years, here's a few suggestions for who on TV you can spend your night with:

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010 (ABC)
Dick Clark, Ryan Seacrest and Melissa Rycroft will host the special from New York’s Times Square featuring Fergie from Las Vegas. Jennifer Lopez and Daughtry will perform live as The Black Eyed Peas, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Keri Hilson, Colbie Caillat, Orianthi and Robin Thicke also take the stage.
(Wow Melissa Rycroft... Jason dumping you on the bachelor may have been the best thing to happen to you!)

Billboard’s New Year’s Eve Live (FOX)
Carmen Electra hosting this special featuring performances by American Idol’s Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta and Sean Kingston, from Times Square and Las Vegas. Relive the best moments of the Billboard Music Awards and count down 2009’s top 5 in music, movies and television.

New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly (NBC)
Musical lineup of Jay-Z, Rihanna, Green Day and the cast of the musical Hair as Carson Daly and Natalie Morales countdown to 2010 in New York’s Times Square

MTV News Presents: Top 9 of ‘09 (MTV)
Snooki and The Situation: count down the year’s biggest stories, from Michael Jackson to Eminem, with hosts Adrienne Bailon and the cast of the Jersey Shore

New Year’s Eve Live With Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin (CNN)
CNN in Times Square: hosted by serious anchorman Anderson Cooper and the inappropriate-yet-hilarious Kathy Griffin. Joining them this year will be Lance Bass, who will report from Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. What will they think of next?

So there you have it.
Another thing... If you watched the OC- which I didn't- Remember how Summer and Seth said that the way you spend your new year's eve will determine how you spend the rest of your year? Chill, friends. You can't put so much pressure on one night. Just enjoy yourself and drink plenty of water and take a tylenol before you to go to sleep.

Yes, the element is hot. Even on the third time trying

"The kind of person that makes your brain quiet. You don't have to invent a thing"

I realized that I'm not very good at learning my lesson. Much like touching the stove after someone tells you its hot. But I still do it anyway, and maybe I still haven't learned. Perhaps I will wear gloves next time? I'd rather find my own way around the obstacle than listening to someone else's restrictions. Anyway... today I discovered something I haven't felt in a long time. It was the same feeling I felt when I saw the Hall of Mirrors when I was in Versailles. I want you to listen to "Good Life" by OneRepublic and realize that everything going on externally in your life will be whatever you make of it. Stress less. Nothing lasts forever. Enjoy it while it's here. Don't worry about the risks. The greatest love stories and greatest achievements came from taking the biggest risks.

Sometimes there's airplanes you can't jump out,
Sometimes there's bullshit that don't work out
We've got our stories but please tell me what's there to complain about

All We Ever Do is Say Goodbye

Hello Internet,
How are you feeling today? Did you sleep well?
I already know the answers to that. Do you even have feelings, internet? And I know the internet doesn't sleep. What would the world do for the 6-8 hours that the internet tucked itself into its little internet bed? What a responsibility you have, internet. I feel for you.

I spent my day on Whyte ave. I went to an organic restaurant, gave my leftovers to a homeless man, and spent the rest of my morning in a book store. I impusively bought a copy of Time Traveler's Wife even though I already have it. That puts my total of copies of that book I've bought to 14. No, I don't have 14 copies of that book lying around. Just 3. I buy this book as a present for people who I feel need to read this book and observe the brilliance in it. Anyway, this book does something to me.

JOHN MAYER. Amazing man. I'd love to spend a day inside his head and find out what goes on in there. He's the most brilliant artist I've come across- have you seen him in interviews or dissected his lyrics? I can't figure him out. But I don't think I want to. His lyrics are emotional and heartbreaking. I wish him all the best in his personal life, but if he was to settle down and be happy with a woman, his songs would take a huge turn. I'm relying on you, Mayer, to put heartbreak into words better than I ever could. He's a complex man. He doesn't settle and maybe he takes a little pleasure in the pain of an aching heart. Why not? It leads him to write all those songs, and in my opinion, I think he loves those songs and his career more than he'll ever love a woman. Maybe he does it on purpose. Maybe he sabotages good relationships to get heartbreak and inspiration from it.
I read in an interview:
"I can’t even explain to you how terrible that feels, that I equate dating a woman with punishment, shame, guilt, disappointment, reproach, reprimand, persecution. It’s a nightmare."
This really tugged at the heartstrings. I'm not jaded or heartbroken or anything... but I totally get this. Johnny needs a hug.
Check out his new album "Battle Studies". Specifically the song,
"All we ever do is say Goodbye"
"I bought a ticket on a plane, and by the time it landed, you were gone again"

One.

First blog post. Oh god, oh god, okay, calm down. Say something to break the ice. Set her at ease...
"I'm unarmed"

I've been listening to nothing but Lady Gaga lately. There's a lot of heart and soul beneath the latex and fur and eyelashes. If you haven't heard the song "Speechless", do yourself a favor and listen to it. I guarantee you have had, currently have, or will have someone that makes you feel this. Heartwrenching and amazing.

Lady Gaga is a phenomenal human being. She has such a close caring relationships with her fans. I met her at the Toronto show in November. One of her biggest fans did not get into her concert after a mixup at the box office. He went home extremely disappointed and upset. Later that night when we told her what happened, she personally called him and arranged to fly him out to a show of his choice, front row, backstage, VIP. Amazing.

Also, you NEED to watch this. If you haven't heard of him, his name is DJ Earworm, and he puts together some amazing mixes. He did one for 2008, and here's the recap of 2009. The top 25 hits all in one:
